Gophers’ Haula Intoxicated, Cited for Disorderly Conduct
After standing outside the closed Freight House Restaurant and Bar in Stillwater, Minnesota on July 21st and urinating on Water Street (no pun intended) in front of other individuals, Erik Haula, a hockey forward for the Gophers hockey team, has been cited for disorderly conduct.
Reports state that the bar had closed and an intoxicated Haula made quite the spectacle of himself for plenty of other individuals to witness.
Haula will be a junior this fall at the University of Minnesota. Police arrived on the scene and placed Haula in the car of a “somewhat sober” friend after they cited Haula for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. When police arrived, they said in their report that Haula was “extremely intoxicated.” However, he was extremely cooperative, giving the police no problems at all, according to the police report.
A spokesman for the Minnesota Athletic Department, Garry Bowman, said that Coach Lucia knows about the incident and has spoken to Haula about it. The coach is going to handle the matter internally.
Haula is a Finnish Native. Last year, he led the Gophers with 29 assists and 49 pounds on 20 goals. Coming in second was Kyle Rau with 43 points.
